The Auditorium of the Cueva de los Verdes will serve as a dream setting for the production ‘Fausto y Mefistófeles’, which will be starred by Lanzarote tenor Pancho Corujo on November 8 and 9.

From the operas ‘Fausto’ by Charles Gounod and ‘Mefistófeles’ by Arrigo Boito, the show proposes a journey through the plot of this universal myth. It is a play that combines pieces of both operas to offer the viewer a particular vision of the encounter of these two characters, a paradigm of the sale of the human soul to the devil. Even with fame, money and success, Faust wanted more. Tired of being recognized, Faust sold his soul to Mephistopheles in exchange for knowing them all and enjoying all worldly pleasures. A classic legend protagonist of countless artistic works.

The staging invites you to participate in the imagined encounter between Dr. Johann Fausten, theologian and practitioner of black magic, and Mephistopheles, a demon demon of the devil, described by the German bookseller Johann Spies in the year 1587.

The space of the Cave of the Greens provides the plastic of the cave and the underworld as a character in history. Fausto’s role is played by Corujo. The tenor will star in a dramatic journey that combines pieces of the homonymous operas of Gounod and Boito. It will be within the programming of ‘Lanzarote Scene’.
