On Wednesday, February 27, at the Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz, El Manfiesto was the third novel by writer Manuel M. Almeida published by Editorial Siete Islas.

In its pages, the author from Tenerife explores the consequences of unemployment and the problems that arise from it. The protagonist of the work is Candido Araña, a long-term unemployed man who, faced with the lack of perspectives, decides to recreate his existence and that of those around him, starring in a story full of absurdity and humor, but also of wit and social denunciation.

During the presentation, the author commented that “This novel is not more surreal than the society in which we are immersed”, it is not that reality surpasses fiction, it is that reality is practically indistinguishable from fiction ” , continues Almeida.

“Cándido, the protagonist of the story, has arrived at the same conclusion, and under his prism we will have the opportunity to experience first hand a succession of adventures, events and daily experiences from a singular perspective that invites both laughter and reflection”, adds the author.

The author, was accompanied in the presentation by the writer Miguel Aguerralde that in March published his second novel with Editorial seven islands: “Everything that I never told you.”
