The Ministry of Culture and Sports will officially inaugurate the centenary of César Manrique

The Minister of Culture and Sports, José Guirao, at the request of the César Manrique Foundation, will officially inaugurate the centenary of the birth of this Lanzarote artist with his presence on Wednesday, May 8, at the headquarters of the artist’s Foundation, in Taro de Tahiche
 
The Minister of Culture and Sports thus shows the recognition of the Government of Spain to this multidisciplinary artist, devoted to the art that always advocated sustainable development, knowing how to influence their land and its people to preserve the landscapes, culture and the future of the island. His fame and creativity have been praised nationally and internationally, being distinguished in 1978 with the World Prize of Ecology and Tourism and in 1980 with the Gold Medal of Fine Arts granted by the Ministry of Culture.
 
Intense agenda

The Minister of Culture and Sports will open on Wednesday, May 8, at 7:00 p.m., the cycle of talks led by Iñaki Gabilondo, who will dialogue with political scientist Sami Naïr about Europe, geostrategy and migration, as well as the exhibition César Manrique . Lanzarote, whose content is the mural painted by the artist in 1953 for the passenger terminal of the island’s first airport, a piece that has not been exhibited for almost fifty years.

Previously, on Tuesday, May 7, at 6:15 p.m., José Guirao will visit the exhibition ‘César Manrique, word and commitment: To the power you will be uncomfortable and will attend the keynote address given by the anthropologist Eudald Carbonell, Prince Prize of Asturias, entitled “Human Evolution and Operational Awareness”, to be held at 7:00 p.m. in the José Saramago room in La Plazuela de Arrecife.
