More than a thousand registered of 57 nationalities will star in the Ironman 70.3 of Playa Blanca
he southern town of Playa Blanca will host this Saturday, October 5, the VIII edition of IRONMAN 70.3 Lanzarote, one of the most spectacular sports events held on our island.
On this occasion, the historical record of participation will be broken again since the more than 1000 registered of 57 different nationalities have been reached. Among the participants, there are also 54 professional triathletes, such as Emilio Aguayo (ESP), Frederic Funk (GER), Alessandro Degasperi (ITA), Emma Pallant (GBR), among others.
For his part, the technical director of the test, Fabio Cabrera, revealed the new route of the Ironman 70.3, which will go from the 1.9 km swimming segment in the crystalline waters of Playa Dorada, through emblematic places of Lanzarote in the cycling segment of 90.1 km as Timanafaya, Tinguatón, La Geria, Femés, Los Hervideros or the Gulf, until the 21.1 km walk along the maritime avenue of the Marina Rubicon port with direct views of the sea and the island of Fuerteventura.
IRONMAN 70.3 Lanzarote offers 40 qualifying places for the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in 2020, to be held in New Zealand. According to the organizers, Playa Blanca will receive between 2,000 and 3,000 direct people due to this event. In addition, on Friday, October 4 there will be a test for children between 7 and 17 years old in Playa Dorada, called IRONKIDS.
