Event Details

International Museum Day is celebrated on May 18. This year focuses on the new role played by museums as active actors in their communities. The contemporary museum has ceased to be a static institution, becoming a forum for reflection and social debate, oriented to a multiple and diverse society with a critical audience.

Museums have become cultural hubs that function as platforms where creativity is combined with knowledge and where visitors can co-create, share and interact.

The International Museum of Contemporary Art, MIAC, in collaboration with the Pancho Lasso School of Art, will hold on May 18 the second edition of the activity “From the classroom to the museum”, a project that seeks to promote museum-public mediation, being the own students of the school who exercise the work of guides of the MIAC Collection. In addition, a stamping workshop by Juan Muñoz and guided tours for families will be held at the exhibition “100 years: Lanzarote and César”, in the temporary exhibition hall.
