Chucho Valdés concert – Tour ‘Jazz Batá 2’

Winner of six GRAMMYs and four Latin GRAMMY (the last one received by this work Jazz Batá 2), the Cuban pianist, composer and arranger Chucho Valdés is the most influential figure in the modern history of Afro-Cuban jazz. He is considered, along with Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson, Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea, one of the best pianists in the world and, of course, the most important jazz figure in Cuba.

Jazz Batá 2, is an exceptional work in which he revisits an idea that he explored for the first time in 1972: a jazz piano trio with batá drums instead of the conventional percussion game. The Batá are the sacred drums in the form of an hourglass used in the ritual music of the Yoruba religion.
