‘Disco confessions’ or how to revive the transgressive dance floor of the Jameos of the 70s
The Jameos del Agua was originally a cave and volcanic tube that in the head of César Manrique was transformed in the seventies into a transgressive dance floor, in the style of the most emblematic New York brands of the time, such as Studio54, LimeLight, The Loft or Paradise Garage.
This Saturday, that original spirit of Jameos will recover in the CIC El Almacén during the screening of the documentary Disco Confessions, after which there will be a conversation with its authors to end with a music session until dawn. The appointment is at 8 pm, and will begin with the presentation of the poster and the program of the 2019 edition of Jameos Music Festival.
Directed by Javi Senz and shot between Lanzarote, Ibiza and New York, Disco Confessions reels the life of one of the creators of the disco sound and one of the most important studio engineers of the time, John Morales, to whom are inextricably linked greatest musical successes on the dance floors of the world, with a notable influence on all the musical movements that emerged afterwards, from the new Latin rhythms to hip hop and rap.
The screening of the documentary will be complemented by a talk-debate that has been confirmed by Jesús Bombín (journalist, music critic and broadcaster Radio 3), Javier Senz (director and editor of the documentary), Laro Basterrechea (sound engineer and collaborator in the production of the documentary) and Gabriel Tineo (cameraman and director of the documentary).
Around 10 pm, a spectacular session with the dj’s Javier San Juan Aka Mr Paradise, Dj Nacho Larache and Dj Javi Senz.e the Jameos of the 70’s begins.
