The publishing house Siete Islas occupies the eighth position in the list of stamps with works of Canarian authors best sold in 2018 in the bookshops of the Canary Islands associated with CEGAL (Spanish Confederation of Guilds and Booksellers’ Associations) which in the Canary Islands is composed of twenty-three establishments distributed in six islands, as published this week by the Canarian literature magazine Dragaria.

“It was a huge surprise and we are very grateful” says Ismael Lozano Latorre, editorial manager “The acceptance of our works has far exceeded our expectations, inside and outside the islands. When we started this project we never dreamed that we would get that far “.

Siete Islas publishing house was born in Lanzarote in September 2015 with the intention of publishing novels that thrill, that make us feel and from its origins has opted for history and authors that are related to the Canary Islands. Currently it has 14 paper and 8 digital novels in its catalog, highlighting the incorporation of great names of the current Canarian letters, such as Víctor Álamo de la Rosa (Benito Pérez Armas Award 2013), Santiago Gil (with two works published in the publishing house, “Dos” and “La puerta de la caula”) and Manuel M. Almeida (recent addition with “El Manifiesto Ñ”)

“This recognition encourages us to continue working in the same line,” continues Ismael Lozano Latorre. “Bringing literature to young people in schools has been our most important challenge and we are very proud of having achieved it.”

Works such as “La sirena de Famara”, “Saltos de Libertad”, “The girl who heard Kurt Cobain songs” and “Omar, the crab boy” have been compulsory reading in educational centers of the islands several consecutive years.
